Available for a winter 2027 internship
Hosting me as an intern
This internship completes my college diploma (DEC) in computer science technology (Techniques de l’informatique), network management track, at Cégep de Sherbrooke. The Cégep supervises it and handles the paperwork; pay is not required. Fifteen weeks is long enough to leave you with something finished.

The six internship tasks and what I’ve already done
The Cégep gives employers an indicative list of six tasks for this internship. For each one, I’ve noted where I’ve already done it: at work, in the lab or on a project.
| Task | At work | In the lab or on a project |
|---|---|---|
| Technical support and user training | Level 1 support in 2025 and level 2 in 2026 at Waterville TG, including two weeks alone on the service desk for the four sites. I also rolled out multi-factor authentication and followed up with users. | Not yet |
| Configuring a workstation’s operating system | Moving the production floor’s data-entry workstations to Windows 11, Group Policy (GPO), patches through WSUS, software through PDQ Deploy. | Workstation administration course (Administration d’une station de travail), winter 2024. |
| Running, upgrading and securing a network | The switches’ lifetime warranty checked model by model, claims prepared, 30 switches supplied at no cost. | Monitoring with Nagios, Wazuh and Splunk, a pfSense firewall. |
| Diagnosing and fixing network problems | Hardware and network incidents diagnosed and documented, users’ remote access and VPN troubleshot. | Scans with Nmap. |
| Writing scripts to build utilities | Not yet | Scripting course (Développement de scripts), winter 2026, and the Python dashboard for RacePi, a two-person project. Outside class: for the AÉCS, a script that fills in a book’s record from its ISBN. |
| Installing and configuring routers, switches and firewalls | Not yet | pfSense and an Arista Untangle firewall with Snort and Suricata IPS rules, GRE and VPN tunnels, Cisco IOS. |
The three steps
-
Step 1. Write to the IT internship office
The Cégep de Sherbrooke IT internship office takes offers at StagesTI@cegepsherbrooke.qc.ca. Even after the Cégep’s set date for offers, it can still take one. You can also write to me at abdou@abdou.contact.
-
Step 2. Name the person who will supervise me
One person on your team supervises me for the 15 weeks. The Cégep supervises the internship and handles the paperwork, matching, follow-up and evaluation.
-
Step 3. Decide whether the internship is paid
Pay is not required. If the internship is paid, there is aid for the employer.
Employer aid, if the internship is paid
-
In Quebec, a paid internship can qualify for Revenu Québec’s refundable tax credit for on-the-job training. The Cégep gives you the attestation (form CO-1029.8.33.10) on request.
-
Federally, a Student Work Placement Program subsidy may apply, depending on the organization and remaining funds.
The two can be combined. Their rates and amounts can change before January 2027; the official pages keep them up to date.
